"BREAKS OVER!"

And an official 1/2 Marathon under my belt!

I stopped blogging several weeks ago because I was so fed up with myself. I couldn't seem to carve out enough time to run during the week. My dream of running a marathon was waylaid by... well... life, I guess. Between a new full time job (yes mom I work 8 hour days), graduate school and the girls, there just weren't enough hours in the day, or enough energy for the hours.

Even though I have run 13 or more miles on a number of occasions over the past couple of months, running it today was nothing short of awesome. There were over 250 runners, nothing shy of a miracle for a first time marathon in the middle of no-where. (If you are interested in why the Y had such a great show, take a moment and read Ruthies inspiring story at: http://www.fultonymca.com/posted/websitepage14_files/page0003.htm I am not sure how I fared against the other racers, but I finished in two hours and three minutes, which calculates out to just over 9.5 minute miles!

More than the accomplishment of finishing the race, I have met some very good people, many of whom I would consider friends (you'd be shocked what you tell a group of people after you've been running for two hours straight). I would like to thank all of you at the Y for your hard work making the "wouldn't it be neat" idea of a marathon into a reality and also thank you for organizing training runs and including a novice like me in them.

To Jodi (my "running sister"), thanks for sticking with me even though you could be running with the others and for pushing me to do better than a 10 minute mile. You will be amazing at the Marine Corps Marathon. And to Sam... I feel so fortunate to have met you and to have run with you. Sappy I know, but wipe your tears cause I'll be there on Sunday... I figure if I keep running, I'll probaby figure out this tangent thing and my husband figures if I keep running I'll keep my new ass.

So, the moral of the story is, I aint done running yet!
