Here goes nothing!

Well, as I told Abbey, I'm gonna start a blog. Not being entirely sure exactly what a blog is, I am finding the process interesting. Where is my computer savey husband when I need him? Oh yeah, he's a Marine. Maybe I'll see him when he retires. But we're home, so who am I to complain!

Well, the real reason I thought it might be neat to start a blog, other than keeping up with my fellow military and nomadic friends, was to track my progress in training for a marathon! I started running last September, mostly to maintain my weight. Shortly therafter I turned 29 and realized that, well, other than spawning and riding the coat-tails of my husband, I hadn't accomplished a whole lot in the past couple of years. So this year, 8 days after my 30th birthday, I plan to run my first marathon. For all you non-runners that is just over 26 miles!

I began seriously training about 6 weeks ago. I run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and a long run on Saturday. So far my longest run was 11.5 miles, but this Saturday I am scheduled to run 12 miles with a total of 25 miles this week!

So far no major "problems," although I have a new concern after the 11.5 mile run (thought I was gonna have to knock on my "country-neighbors" door). What if I have to go to the bathroom? I have been informed by several marathon attendees (not runners, mind you) that runners just go. Well, this may put a damper on my whole marathon goal. I am not prepared to be incontinent in order to put a notch in my life belt!!

Well, first post done. What will tomorrow bring? Maybe pictures!
